I mean the kind that you have to install with the cord hooked up to the computer. but is it safe? I heard that if you put too much hardware on a computer that the computers hard drive will crash or something.

I' ve used about half of my storage space up on my computer and I was wondering if there was alway to gain some storage space back by deleting files or programs. If so, what usually takes up the space that I could probably get rid of?

Hi all,

I curently have the following specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2800, 2.09 GHz
1GB RAM
GeForce FX5900 (126MB, AGP)

I would like to upgrade to an AMD 64 processor but have been made aware that I would have to also upgrade my motherboard. I'm fine with that, however to save money I would like to keep my other devices (primarily my graphics card and memory). My confusion comes when looking for motherboards, I have found it hard to find any motherboard that have an AGP expansion, they all seem to be PCI. I thought that AGP had become standard for graphics. Some of the motherboards have integrated graphics which are better then my card in some cases however I would like to upgrade in the future and am not sure that PCI graphics is the way to go.

Does anyone have any advice, maybe a few good websites that have a good stock of computer conponents. Finally is there any benifit to choosing a particular socket motherboard e.g. 939, 754 etc.

Thank you in advance

Steve

I think it's my TV Tuner, or something, but I get the error message of restarting my computer, safe mode, and blah. It's something like the blue screen of death, only that it hasn't got anything to do with Ctrl+Alt+Del, or anything.

First time I've seen it - Restart computer - DONE.
Other times - Go into safe mode and delete unwanted stuff or restore system.

I decided to restore the system, but out of the 3 times I've tried, it comes up with "Restore Incomplete". Also, this is happening very frequentl today, when it hasn't happened any other times other than once or twice a day.

I thought it was the drivers of the TV Tuner, so I was thinking of uninstalling them, but when I try to do that, the screen comes up.

Also, if this helps t all, here is the error message thing with the ocmplicated numbers and such.

*** STOP: 0C0000008E (0XC0000005, 0XA95DAD59, 0XA8CD3A28, 0X00000000)

Please help. ;_;

As soon as I turn the computer on and log onto my account, the mouse and the keyboard lock up. The screen freezes and the mouse clicking does. Some of the keyboard strokes it does respond to (e.g. ctrl-alt-delete, and windows key) but nothing else. I have scanned the entire hard drive several times with two didfferent antivirus progams, but the problem still persists. I have no recently installed any new software or hardware. Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated

My old computer's power supply died. I bought another e-machines, took my old hard drive, and attached it to the slave terminals of the new machine. It is now drive "F", with "C" being the new internal drive. I can see files in "F", and I want to take my old MS works Calendar data file (wherever that is located - let me know) and import it to the calendar on the "C" drive, but I can't open the files on "F" - I get a message "not accessible, access is denied." I right-clicked in the files' Properties, tried to allow sharing, but get "The shared resource was not created at this time." How can I get my old calendar files (and other personal data) from my old drive into the new one?

My Dell laptop Inspiron 1000 was switched off during a system restore to an earlier date. Now when attempting to load Windows XP, a blue screen appears: "Bad Image Checksum. The image comctl32.dll is possibly corrupt." I can get into various menus by pressing F12 or F2 during startup but can't figure out how to reload my system disks. I've tried reconfiguring to an earlier known good configuration, loading system defaults, etc & now feel as a last resort I have to reload using disks. I guess it will erase all personal files? Please help---and thanks in advance for your time & advice.

I just acquired an old Apple. and after turning it off, when I tried to re-boot, a pic of a floppy disc w/a flashing question mark is as far as it'll get. I can't go anywhere else and I don't know how to bypass this. I am Apple-ignorant.
It's a Power Macintosh 6500/250 Home Edition. 250 MHz, 256K Level 2 Cache, 32MB RAM, 2MB SGRAM vid memory, 4GB hard drive, floppy disc drive and 24x CD-ROM.
