Put your windows CD in the CD drive, then shut down the computer and reboot it, so that it boots to the cd. Then you should choose the "command prompt" option and at that prompt which should say C:> You type format C:
That will completely erase the whole hard drive, it will ask you if you are sure once you type that.
I have formatted like this many times.

If you just need to get rid of everything, such as viruses, etc, just boot to the operating system installation CD, it will give you the option to delete/recreate partitions and format the hard drive.
If you actually need to wipe it clean so that data can never be recovered by snoopy people/law enforcement, etc, then you need to search the net for a wipe utility. Sourceforge.net is a good place to start.

You can use any number of "Wipe" programs, or you can format (erase) your hard drive. Norton is probably the most recognized wipe program. Make sure you have an original copy of windows to reload on hand!

Format the drive.I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems. Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.

it depends on your operating system and, the age of your computer. for newer computers you have a pc recovery disk that came with the computer, that gives you the option to format your hard drive. if its a computer recieved as a gift then you need to get the operating system disks, and format using them. for older computers you can use a floppy disk with command.com, autoexec.bat, format.exe, and drivers for your cd rom, type c:\format at the command prompt, and format your hard drive.

at beginning, (before boot screen) press F8, choose COMMAND PROMPT (i guess thats how u spell it).
Then type in:
format c:
it will ask u if u are sure.
TO make it easier, insert ur OS disk, and follow instructions on screen. At a point it will ask u if u want to format partition or create one.
Hope this helps

Take it out of your computer. and run a magnet over it several times. You will probably have to format it after-wards. This is only a guess. If I wanted to do it, that is how I would do it. I would also be prepared to purchase new one.
