Open the case and make sure the cables are secure. If this doesnt work, your cdrom is probably a goner!

Maybe ur drivers have uninstalled or the CD drive is just bust, try going onto the cdrom drivers and unistall it on its property page, then reboot ur comp, once its booted back up, the computer should automatically recognise it and reinstall, that might help, u will find ur CDdrive on hardware on control panel. Also, if the light comes on, but the tray wont open, look on ur cddrive, there might be a tiny tiny tiny hole, this is used for manual opening. If u push a pin in there, it will pop open just by pulling it. =]

There is usually a little tinny hole on your CD drive door. Press through the hole with a small nidel/pin and it should open.
If not, your CD ROM is fried and you need to have your system checked out.
Good luck

Its probably disconnected. Open the case, or get someone to do it for you if you dont wanna do it, and check the connection. Make sure both the power and IDE cables are well plugged.

DL,
Dont open the case yourself. You dont want to void any warranty you might have, or get hurt.
Double-click "My Computer". If there is no icon for CD, then take it in to a shop for repair. If there is an icon, right-click on it and select eject. If it doesnt open then, take it in for repair.
