Monitors

When I turn on my PC and windows comes on I have a pale,blank, white screen.! In the upper left side of the screen there is a folder icon and the word,common..?! I have to X it out to go to my desk top. It stays pale and very faded looking, but comes up clear and bright after a while...???!!!!

I know this sounds really weird but I have this 15inch flat panel monitor that I'm not using anymore and I was wondering if there is some way I can wire it to become a TV.

My brother turned his Sylvania monitor on its side for approximately 4 seconds and when he turned it right side up it had a blue tint in the background to everything. he tried degaussing or whatever. he turned it back on its side to see what happened and corners went rainbow and the computer rebooted itself. Now the computer wont reboot, said some files are missing. He rebooted, now it wont even detect the hard drive. the tower is located under the desk beneath the monitor. Are these related or a weird coincidence that it happened the same time? Any advice on how to fix it?

I would like to know this , because its fine if you abruptly unplug AV cable from video player or TV . No thing bad happens !
But , this is computer , is it different ,
My monitor is plug and play type , does it help ?
I have 2 CPUs but only 1 Monitor , unfortunately , I could not afford another one . Once happened to try , but scared , so its wise to ask here first !

We have two projectors, one for front of the room, the other for back, currently have it set so they are the 'second screen' for display (sound is not so important, we project song lyrics). Would like to have it set up so we can use a second PC to display different output on each projector. A KVM Matrix is at least $700, and would like to know if anyone has been able to duplicate the switching ability, but at less cost. I don't want to have to manually switch the video out cable and reboot the systems when we want to have separte displays. THANKS!

Hi I was thinkin about bying a good lcd the one that allows a person with a weak sight to read the text without any problems. i ve had Samsung sm713bm 17" but that was a mistake . Fonts were really small nothing like on my 17"crt. My eyes started to hurt. Now a good freind told me to think about buying Samsung 206BW 20" Widescreen Display , here are the specs http://www.samsung.com/products/monitor/...

She told me that i will be able to use i like mine crt and that the fonts will be just as large as i want them to be without losing sharpnes.On my CRT I used 800x600 resolution. What do you think about that LCD?

I just brought a tv with a vga input.. my computer display card had 2 output..
1 dvi and 1 vga.. i connect the dvi (digital) to my monitor and vga to my new tv...

is it possible for me to run 2 display concurrently? meaning the computer display will be on monitor as well as my tv... how can i make this happen ? thanks

Hi. I have a Dell laptop and the bottom 1/3 of my display now looks like a bar code or like the progress bar when you defrag a computer. i have no clue how to fix this or even what this problem is called. so i can now only use the top 2/3s of my display.

ok this is weired, i'm monitor works fine till i leave it for about ten minutes and when i come back to it, it's a black screen that say's "no signal input"i move the mouse and it comes back on?
i reinstalled the video driver,checked the connections, took the video card out cleaned it and reinstalled it.
still the same thing,
any idea's would help, thanks

I just added another 6 foot extension to my VGA monitor cable and the resolution is seriously effected. What are my other options.

If I get a DVI cable (which means I would need to by a DVI video card) can that cable be longer without loosing clarity?

Which monitor is better...a 19 inch LCD widescreen or a regular 19" LCD Monitor. I am trying out the widescreen but am a little unsure about it. I am thinking about getting the regular.
