Why do I have a pale screen...???

Question

When I turn on my PC and windows comes on I have a pale,blank, white screen.! In the upper left side of the screen there is a folder icon and the word,common..?! I have to X it out to go to my desk top. It stays pale and very faded looking, but comes up clear and bright after a while...???!!!!

Hi. Wiggle the cable gently at the monitor and back of the computer.
