how do i change my taksbar from an older version to a newer version?

Select Start->Settings->Taskbar and Start Menu

Use the options to change the behavior/appearance of the task bar and start menu. Experiment with them. Maybe what you are really trying to change is the start menu.

Hi. Right-click on the taskbar, select 'Properties' and try switching 'Classic view' off. Also right-click on your desktop, 'Properties', 'Appearance', and try some of the settings. I use the Silver color scheme and like it.
