Monitors

[Selected]: All categories Computers & Internet Hardware Monitors

I recently wrote about the monitor. I followed the advice of Alex (I think that was who it was) and attached it to my other computer. It worked like a charm. I have taken everything loose like the hard drive, dvd player and CD and then attached each one individually like a web site recommended but still not luck. I know the monitor works but how can I install windows again ..someone said that may be the problem...if the monitor isn't working. I wouldn't be able to install windows without seeing something on the screen.

My monitor will stay on when I plug in the computer for about three seconds and then it clicks off. The light on the keyboard indicates that it is asleep. So I went thru the steps of checking out each part to see if that was it but it still does the same. Finally I unplugged the monitor from the computer and just plugged in the power cord for it. It still does the same. It starts to get power and within 2-3 seconds the green light goes out and the power light turns amber indicating its off. When I hit the power button on the monitor it goes thru these same steps again but it never lights up. I don't know of any switch or reset button. What do you think? Is it shot or is there a way to reset it?

My screen on my LCD monitor got messed up today(cause of a ball hitting it) . Something that looked very much like a spider web showed on the screen and it does'nt go away. I think the screen glass may have broken or something cause i actually managed to hit it with a ball(not with purpose of course), so i think the glass inside has broken, but the outside looks fine. Maybe some dead pixels or something?? I have no idea!! Please help and just ask if theres something you don't understand...my english is VERY bad!! What I really want to know is if I have to get a new screen or if i can send in for repair??

I connect my PCG-FRV37 to WEGA Sony TV using AV output via RCA cable. It was working fine till last week. But now when i try to switch the display using Fn+F7, it shows only LCD display(Earlier there used to be three options Only LCD, LCD+TV, Only TV)
Also note that when i connect the cable to TV, I am able to transfer the audio signal but no video.
Please tell me if there is any solution to this. I tried many things viz. restore the system, reset BIOS, re-install all the drivers, I also contacted sony support but my problem is not resolved yet.
I appreciate your help.

All the cable I can find split the wrong way i.e. 2 females, 1 male (the way it should be ;-) but this only allows 2 monitor connections from 1 PC, but I need the other way round, a cable designed to take a signal from either source (note, they won't be on together!)

Need sources on UK/ship-to-UK websites only

Thanks

The computer's understanding of the screen seems to have shifted about an inch to the right of the actual screen itself...

frustrating to say the least!

I have dual nVidia 7800GTX video cards in an SLI arrangement. Each card has two monitor outputs. If I use dual monitors, which way would be recommended, to connect both monitors to one card or to put one on each? Would there be a significant performance difference between the two configurations?

Like the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) moniters radiate harmful radiations that damage the human body. Do LCD Moniters also radiate these kinds of radiations??

I work in a computer lab and also do computer tutoring with students one-on-one. Sometimes it's really hard to get them to find something on the screen without pointing to it. These days, however, fingerprints on the glass is no longer the issue with touching your computer monitor screen, it's the oils from your skin on the LCD screen that's the problem. So, I was contemplating using a laser pointer and was wondering if there might be any issues with that?
