All the cable I can find split the wrong way i.e. 2 females, 1 male (the way it should be ;-) but this only allows 2 monitor connections from 1 PC, but I need the other way round, a cable designed to take a signal from either source (note, they won't be on together!)

Need sources on UK/ship-to-UK websites only

Thanks

DO NOT split a VGA signal. The wires in a VGA cable need a 75 ohm terminating impedance. If you split a cable and plug it into two displays then you now have two 75 ohms in parallel which means that the sources now sees 37.5 ohms.

You are going to get a week signal, ringing reflections and all sorts of junk on the video signals.

There are lots of switch boxes that will let to switch displays at the touch of a switch. If you really want both at the same time then you need to get a buffer box to do it correctly.

most plasma screen tvs have more than one input, and the xbox probably has either components or simple rca connectors, or even an hdmi cable connector, your pc has a vga connection so to have them both connected to the same input doesn't make sense as the xbox won't view properly on your screen if its plugged into a type it isn't outputting. If your xbox does indeed have a vga output and you want the pc and the xbox to run off the same cables then a kvm switch is the best way to go...this will allow for one connection to the monitor and two or more inputs....you simply activate the switch when you want each of its inputs to display. You can also use the same type of switch to hook up multiple pcs to a singal mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
