what makes vga and xga different?
do they both use the same cable and have the same array of pins?

XGA has higher resolution and is the most common native resolution of laptop LCD screens.

VGA:
Max resolution of 640x480 (very low) with 16 colors maximum.

XGA:
1024x768 with 16-bit color max.
