What's the difference between these two monitors? Are they interchangable?

Will a VGA monitor be sufficient if my Adobe Premeire Elements 2.0 calls for a XGA monitor?

Im not a compleete dummy to computers so I tried a few things i though could be wrong.....My problem is when i hook up my computer as I normaly would, and when i turn on my computer the little light on the monitor goes from green to orange, and the screen is black, so i have tried diffrent things....
1. Put in some spare video cards i have around
2. Hooked up monitor to another computer, works perfect.
3. Keep the computer and monitor off for several hours.

The fans in the computer are working normal, there are no beeps in the machine, now I have no idea what the problem could be....the computer worked great before and now its just doing this.....any other suggestions i could try???

OK. My laptop monitor got so dim that I can't even see after I opened my laptop and tried to install something. (It was stupid).

I went to circuit city to see if they can fix it, but they couldn't.

They said something is burnt or it's shorted. I don't know.

Anybody know what's exactly wrong and how to fix it?

If there is no good solution, I may buy a LCD monitor to connect to my laptop. (pretty stupid but works w/ low cost).

Please help me if you know something.

Thanks!

It will suddenly flick over to a widescreen-like setting that will extend items beyond the screen's field of vision... Its an older screen (TV type, not flatscreen or anything) and I just got it at goodwill, so I can return it if need be.
Any advice would be helpful
Thanks
Matt
Also I run on Windows XP 2003 if you think that might have anything to do with it.

This is to expand my "trying to open my computer"question. Anyway,

-I have a Dell Dimension 3000 Series
-Whenever I trys to open my desktop, a message says "Cannot Display This Video Mode", no matter how much time I trys to restarted it.

PS: does this have to do with "F2" and "F12" at the save mode?

Well this last post was answered with some stupidity. I have had thunder-flies running around in my monitor that had died in the screen. They can be removed. I would suggest you take it to someone who has the facilities to take it apart. These units are not sealed. The panels are made of a glass front for the Liquid Crystal and a back lit panel. The flies are in between these parts. I have personally removed flies from my own monitor. It's a tricky little job so don't attempt it if your not sure what your doing. Take it to PC world or something and demand they do it. They will refuse I'm sure saying it's sealed, but they are not. If they were how did the little guys get in there? The screen panel itself (Inside the case) has a metal surround that can be popped off then gently remove the front glass the flies will be on the Backlit panel. remove them with a cleaning stick (like a cotton bud, but don't use a cotton bud.Fibers) don't touch the inside of the glass reassemble.

I have a Compaq 16 inch CRT monitor (MV740) and I really want to know if it is that cost effective to go out and buy a flat panel monitor of the same size (or slightly larger) to reduce my energy consumption because, hey, oil prices are not going down anytime soon and the electricity bill is just on an upward swing!
