Hooking up Xbox?

I have a cable that hooks a xbox/gamecube or PS2 into a computer (which connects into a monitor) it's all hooked up, but I don't know how to get the Xbox running on the monitor. Any idea how to?

you need a program to be able to view the xbox.
like a tv program that comes with a tv tuner card.

some sort of video capture software
