as previously said, most new graphics cards over the past year have two video outputs, so you can use 2 monitors.

if you go down this path, it would be in your best intrest to try and use 2 of the same monitor, or if you can at least 2 of the same size.

what this will do is then extend your screen onto the two monitors
and you'll be seamisly lust move your mouse to the right and it will appear on the next screen. i find it handy as i make web applications so i can have my code on one screen and a running application on another.

also came in handy when i was at uni so i caould watch tv/dvds while i did my work

2nd answer is right. You can buy a video card that connects 2 monitors.

You might not need a video card built for dual monitors. If you buy a video card with 2 monitor outs, you might end up with 3 because of your existing one. If your existing video comes from a card, I would remove it and replace it with the dual. If your video is built into the computer, I would buy a regular video card with a single monitor out and windows will allow you to use two the same way as the dual output. You have to specify the dual display in your display properties after you install the video card driver.

I would go with the dual if it's not that much more money. If the retailer sets a ridiculous price for the dual kind, you can achieve the same with a standard video card provided you keep your existing one.

There is something important you will need to do before you go with either option. There are two kinds of video cards. AGP and PCI. First find out if you have an AGP slot. Most newer PCs have them (except my dads) If you do, go with AGP. The AGP slot is designed for graphics and is much faster than a PCI slot. PCI is a general purpose slot and would be your choice if you are without an AGP slot.

Yes, the second individual is right. Just simply get another graphics card insert into the available slot, so to display and click the option that says extend desktop....your in business.

what interested_dude said. Your two monitors are basically treated as one really long one, and you just have one document filling up the space in one monitor, and the other, the other.

the easest way is to get a dual head graphics card and extend the second monitor on to the desk top.

Plug in both monitors to one PC. Right click on your desktop. Go to Properties.
Go to settings and you should be set. Apply and save.

Have fun! :-)
