If there is a DVI port on your video card, and on your monitor, then use digital (duh). Analog should only be used when either your computer or monitor doesnt support digital connections (a DVI to VGA adapter won't make the signal digital).

Digital is the best.
A flat panel monitor is digital by nature. There is no analog electronics included, and that is the big advantage of this technology. Hence, the monitor should not be connected through an analog interface. In fact, using the analog interface, you get to conversions, which both add noise to the final image. First the graphics adapter has to convert the digital data of the PC to analog electronical signals. Then these analog signals have to be converted back til digital information to feed the display.
Using the digital interface, each pixel consists of three transistors, which each is mapped to the corresponding memory cell holding the image info. A purely digital to digital transmission with no electronical noise involved - that is the way to produce a stunning image!
You can see the difference between the two setups under the topic the digital interface on this page

Digital should work best for your application, with a new computer and monitor. The only reason not to go digital is if either the computer or monitor do not support it.

Your operating system usually will convert analog to digital. Your sound that comes in on your speakers is analog, the computer converts it to digital. But LCD is digital. The CRT monitors are usually analog although they now come in digital.

Digital is best if your computer has the correct connection. If not, then you'll have no choice but to use analog or replace the video card in the computer.
