OK. My laptop monitor got so dim that I can't even see after I opened my laptop and tried to install something. (It was stupid).

I went to circuit city to see if they can fix it, but they couldn't.

They said something is burnt or it's shorted. I don't know.

Anybody know what's exactly wrong and how to fix it?

If there is no good solution, I may buy a LCD monitor to connect to my laptop. (pretty stupid but works w/ low cost).

Please help me if you know something.

Thanks!

If its a hardware issue and the computer is no longer under waranty I recommend just getting a monitor. You can try to take it into an electrician or professional technician (not a box store person mind you, a real tech) to have one of them look at it, but I would definately not recommend messing with the internal wiring on a lap top unless you know exactly what you are doing, otherwise you could fry the whole system.

HA!!! This JUST happened to me today with my Sony Vaio!

I took it to the service center & it worked, but when the guy pushed the screen forward, off it went again!

He said he suspects there is a back light problem. Easy to fix and not expensive, he said... we'll see...

I would advise you to go & get it seen to, rather then buying another monitor. If you ever need to take your laptop somewhere with you, what'll you do at the last minute if it hasn't been fixed?! (I'm a procrastinator, so stuff like that tends to happen to me!)

Good luck - & if you'd like to know about the exact problem & price, email me & I'll let you know as soon as Sony confirms!

This is the funniest thing that I saw today... I LMAO....I was answering another question about a movie and I saw your answer with a note at the bottom asking for help with a computer question. (not that I know anything) but I checked your question out and burst out laughing. " HELP I can't even see"..I just had the visual of you sitting there trying to type your question and not being able to see what you are doing!
Good luck with your problem, hope it's not serious, sorry I can't help, but

Thanks for making me laugh!

first i would try a system restore...then i would look at the power settings, then i would uninstall and reinstall the video driver...it could be hardware i guess to but i would eliminate a windows problem first...wat happens if you reboot and go into bios settup?
