When I try to boot up my laptop I just get a curser at the top left of the screen. I bought a new charger from ebay (original dell) because my cat chewed the old one. Dont' know if this would be related. Any body had this problem before?

For the last week everytime I turned on my laptop the screen would be red but then fade back to the normal color. Last night while I was working the whole thing went black. I could barely see what was on the screen but I know it was still working. Does anyone have an idea what this may be? Do I need to replace the screen or might it be something smaller? I've only had this Toshiba laptop for about 3 years...
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop. Up until a few weeks ago, if I wanted to scroll down the page, all I had to do was move my finger up and down the right side of the touch pad. That's not working anymore. Also, when I hover over something now, whether it be a desktop item or a file within a folder, anything, really, it automatically selects it. I've tried going into the mouse settings and finding the problem, but all the options read as if I had an external mouse. I've tried looking this up in the Microsoft knowledge base, but nothing there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where is, in your opinion, the best place to buy laptops? Reliable, cheaper, etc. Online sites are also fine. Any comments about the place would also be good.

Hi,
I am planning to buy a laptop for basic uses of Internet surfing, & few other things like music, DVDs, games, Microsoft office. I have a choice between the following two laptops. Could anyone suggest which is a better buy? They are almost of the same price so that is not a concern. I have never used an AMD & my concern is about its performance.

Choice 1 : HP dv6500t, Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T5250, 1.5 GHz, 15.4" WXGA, 2GB RAM, 250GB, SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support, 802.11b/g, HP Imprint (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone, 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, Windows Vista Home Premium

Choice 2 : HP Pavilion dv6646us, 1.9 Ghz AMD Turion™ 64 X2, 15.4" WXGA, 2GB RAM, 160GB, LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support , 802.11b/g, HP Imprint (Radiance) + Webcam + Microphone, Windows Vista Home Premium.

Thanks
