Laptops & Notebooks - October 2007

On any other keyboard, I would just hit the to capture an image of my screen. I would then paste it into a document or into paint. It doesn't work on my laptop. I tried Ctrl, Alt & Prt Scr, that didn't work. I also tried Alt & Prt Scr. What am I doing wrong here?

I have an Acer laptop and it's really cheap, only $490.
The battery power is at 100% yet the maximum number of minutes you could go on is 12-15 min. Why is that?
NOW the laptop's battery goes dead whenever you turn it on with out the recharger. You can't even turn it on with out the laptop's battery going out.

and my laptop (Toshiba) shows it is receiving, but cannot get it to show a web page. If WiFi will work in Airports etc. what is the need to configure a router? Since it is putting out a signal. I'm really confused. Not to swift with computer technology and terminolgy. Whew!

My laptop has had a motherboard failure and now its internal speakers and the 3.5mm headphone socket also doesn't work.
I'm sure its not a driver problem as I have all of them installed, and anyway in BIOS tests there was no sound either.

How else can I get sound from my computer? Other ports I have that work are USB, 1394 (whatever that is).
HELP!

i have a MacBook, and audacity, can someone tell me how to go about recording with this mic on my MacBook and how well it will record a band of friends one who plays an upright bass, an accordion acoustic guitar if i just set this mic in front of them ? ? ?

**i used to record them with a built in mic in another labtop, and it came out sounding good so i figured if i used a better mic it would come out even better ..

ok, i am not very domestic...i attempted to clean my laptop this morning, used nail polish remover (ingredients water, acetone, propylene gycerol...and many other chemicals) and i wiped the touch pad u use to control the pointer...now, it doesn't work, like it has lost its sensitivity-is it because of the nail polish remover?? any way to fix it or will i have to buy a mouse?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. I have just used crucial.com to check how much memory i have on my laptop. It says i have 256MB of RAM, but when i go to control panel>performance and maintenance>system, it says the i have 504MB RAM. Is my laptop right, or crucial.com. I don't know what to do as i was hoping to upgrade my memory and add more RAM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a decent computer (which I am considering taking back). It has decent specifications and a large hard drive but only a 4200 RPM hard drive speed. How much will lthis slow down my computer? At the end of the advertisement, the products using intel processor give a special focus on the intel core instead just saying that it contains intel.You can even hear a special sound or tone for intel in the end of the ad saying "intel inside"

But not is the case with any other processor. Why is it so ?

I have a Sony HDV camcorder and was wondering if this graphics card was compatable with the HD format??

I am poised to buy a laptop at this moment and this is the defining factor!!

I travel alot, and I am looking for a midi keyboard for my laptop so I can work on important projects. I need one preferably that is one of those flexible roll up keyboards...I have been able to find some that are JUST MIDI, but since my laptop does not have a midi port connection, these are pretty much useless to me... I have also heard whispers about a MIDI to USB converter cables, but I don't know if these would properly convert the singnals so it would work with programs such as CUBASE.... I know that there are small (but bulky) usb keyboards, but I am trying to see if there are any flexible "roll-up" ones....

I own a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop and that recently got back from there tech support. I did not have the issue before, but when I got it back I have it now. The problem is that the sound card is not working. I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, installed different versions of the driver and it does not work. The weird thing is that in both the bootable diagnostic and in linux, the card functions fine. Does anyone have any possibilities on how to fix this issue?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-4274 with with Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset. I would like to play some computer games which will not work with the onboard graphics cards, they recommend nvidia geforce 6800GT or ati radeon X850. i went to crucial.com to see if i can put more memory into my laptop and it said no open slots.. does that mean i have to get rid of this memory which is 2 slots of 256mb?? also the suggested memory is two 512mb memories. into the 2 open slots .. can i put more like two 1Gb memories or it has to be this? i have a compaq presario 2200 series..

It is a year old and i cleaned it with compressed air - i use it daily for school and i have not found a connection with the beep. The beep is not from the speakers but sounds like it comes from the computer itself - it uses microsoft XP
