I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-4274 with with Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset. I would like to play some computer games which will not work with the onboard graphics cards, they recommend nvidia geforce 6800GT or ati radeon X850. Is there anyway (worth the cost) to add one of these graphics cards to my laptop?

You would have to see if the motherboard has an AGP or PCI-e slot.

Unfortunatly, you can't really upgrade the graphics on a laptop from integrated to a dedicated GPU.

Intel has worked on it's drivers, however, to achieve parity between the GMA 950 and some lower-end video cards, so gaming isn't nearly as bad as it used to be with integrated video. It still won't match a good dedicated solution like a GeForce 7600 or Radeon x1600 though; both of those chips are common in "gamer" laptops.

In the future, nVidia is hoping to allow laptop users the ability to upgrade their video with a laptop video slot technology they're working on. This just don't seem like it's gaining much industry support for mainstream laptops, however, since this would require a thicker laptop to work properly.

Most likely NOT. There are no retail graphics card for laptops. Some laptops that have upgrade option can only use proprietary graphics from the laptop manufacturer. There is nothing from the card makers like EVGA, XFX, Sapphire, etc.
