Depends on what's wrong with the screen.

If the screen's cracked, that's physical abuse and is NOT covered by warranty. A new LCD can run several hundred dollars (over $500 not uncommon).

If you dropped the laptop and cracked the display, unless you paid for special insurance, I doubt if HP will repair it. Displays that are brand new can be very expensive, so I suspect it would not be cost effective to repair. You might looking on www.ebay.com to see what a used display would cost for your model of HP and then contact a local laptop service company or one on-line to see how much they would charge for labor if you provide the display.

to replace the whole LCD screen
if still under warrenty might be free since it was bought in dec. 06

Which reading you get a one year parts and labor so you get it for free.

You are still under warranty it will be free of cost for the LCD. It will be replaced...

But if it is a physical damage it wont come under warranty.
