I own a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop and that recently got back from there tech support. I did not have the issue before, but when I got it back I have it now. The problem is that the sound card is not working. I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, installed different versions of the driver and it does not work. The weird thing is that in both the bootable diagnostic and in linux, the card functions fine. Does anyone have any possibilities on how to fix this issue?

Try this:
Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, ok. Select Startup tab, disable all, apply, ok. PC will restart. Install the right driver. Check the sound in dxdiag (Run dxdiag). Once ok, you can enable all your startups in msconfig.
