I figured that your laptop is running when the power supply is on. and that when you use the battery it won't. That means that your battery is in the brink of dying. You can diagnose your battery easily when your laptop is running when the power supply. There are many was to do it. The easiest is to right click MY computer icon on your desktop if you have an icon there and click on properties. Then a the System Properties box will pop up and click on the Hardware TAB. From there click the Device Manager box and another box will appear and from there you will see Batteries. This will show you if your batteries is working properly or not. Or depending on what kind of diagnostic acer laptop has, then you would probably go to its PC diagnostic and test your battery. That is the first step, and hope this advice helps.
