check if your laptop has a 'S-Video' output socket. It should look like this: http://tell.fll.purdue.edu/hatasa/kurosio/pages/svideo.jpg
If you have that socket, all you need is a s -video to AV cable. You'll get it in Audio/ video/ computer equipment stores. It would look like this: http://www.ztnetstore.com/images/MD2002.JPG ( the pic is of a mono cable. If you buy a stereo cable, you'd have 3 of those male connectors)
Using this cable, you can just hook up the laptop and ur tv.
Once you've connected them, you should turn your TV to AV mode, and in ur laptop, you should turn on presentation mode - which should be a combination of Fn key + some F key. And once you do that, you'll be able to see your laptop display on ur TV.
If you connected your audio cables too, the sound will also be available on ur TV.

It depends on the laptop and TV. Some videocards have a built in "TV-Out" that will either let you connect to a TV with any of a slew of cables. I know that many current models of HP come standard with an S-Video Out, so if you have a TV that can take S-Video in, you just need the right cable.

Hi. A lot of laptops have an S-video output jack. If your laptop and TV both have this jack then the cable is pretty cheap.

yes, if your laptop has S-Video output ports, you just need a regular AV component cable and connect to the video in port. If you have a Mini DVI or HDMI output port, make sure your TV has those ports and you can watch HD pic from laptop to TV.

You either need a PC input on your TV (and use it as a monitor), if not you can buy S-VHS leads (providing your laptop has an S-VHS output) or I think you can buy adapter leads that will turn a monitor output into a SCART lead.
