I bought some RAM a while back and i installed in np. but when i was taking the old one out (cuz i was going to use it on something else) the inside of the lid touched a drop of water and when i put the lid over the RAM i saw the drop of water too late, and it got right one of the black chips. so, is it dangerous to use now? since then its just been sitting around my house. in its little box. i did dry it the second i saw the water.

Right now I can't swing the price for a new laptop. Don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just enough to run a few programs and store a few documents. Would I have to increase the RAM as well? Thanks for your help.

Erased disk when win98 was corrupted, but could not install because legacy drivers were from win95, I have downloaded the original win95 on xp machine but am spending too much time! thanks

its an hp pavilion dv6338se or the same as an hp pavilion dv6000. It has NVIDIA GeForce 6150 graphics card, 896MB RAM ,150MB VRAM, a 1.8 GHZ AMD Turion 64x2 TL-56 processor. Yet the game's fps are very sluggish and the game freezes every now an then. Is it my laptop or is it the RAM or Graphics card. can someone please tell me what to do because it has me very frustrated and the game is so very SLOW. Halo 2 vista's requiremnets are 2.0 GHZ processor 1GB RAM and NVIDIA 6100 or higher, but processor minumum is 1.5 GHZ. Should I install more RAM or have gek squad look at it from bestbuy because its still under its 2 year warranty.
P.S it's only 2 months old and was priced $1000 when i bought it would they let me exchange it for another laptop(bought from Bestbuy under their warranty) or what because its crashed 6 times fatally and i'vehad to use recovery manager to fix it this is the longest it hasn't crashed yet 1.5 months. Is it a total loss?

I am looking into buying a laptop, but I do not really understand all of the new technology and what would fit me best. I would be using it for school as well as work, so lots of memory, speed, and the ability to work on multiple tasks is very important.
Any advice or information is greatly appreciated!

Okay, so I have a used Dell Latitude D600 laptop. It crashed and I forgot to back-up the files and I need to get some files off of it. So, when I turn it on, it go to the Dell loading screen, then to the Microsoft Windows XP loading screen. After that, it goes black and then turns blue. The blue screen says this:
"STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectaedly with a status of 0xc0000006 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down."
Okay, is it official done or can it be fixed?
Thanks!!

Last night I spilled soda on my laptop keyboard, and I quickly rushed to get paper towels. When I looked at the screen again, it said HARDWARE MALFUNCTION, SYSTEM HALTED. Now, all it does is boot for 5 seconds with no display and turn off. Is my laptop dead for good? Or can I still fix it somehow? Please answer, this is a very horrible situation for me.

I want a laptop for college and I'm not sure which is the best.
I am leaning towards the Macbook just because I'm a girl and it is cute looking--but I also heard that Macs are reliable--BUT other than college they are not really used in the real world--everyone has a PC

I am majoring in biological sciences, so I don't need any fancy features...just the basics

I also heard the tablet pc windows was pretty good.

then dell is supposed to be the college computer.

can anyone compare those brands? or tell me which kind i should get?

also i want this to last till i get to graduate school which will hopefully be med school---would the same laptop be good for there too?

Is there a small laptop that is small and costs less than $80. I am writing a book and I find it eaiser to write on the computer than in a book. I want to write in other places than the computer room. Is there a laptop especially for Microsoft Word? Or has Microsoft Word made a special laptop just for it that doesn't cost that much? Thank you for answering.

Deal All,

I have a Dell Inspiron 600m notebook bought in 2004 which has BOIS
version A14.

When I was working, my daughter ran through the AC adapter cable,
apparently DC power jack was broken and all the pins are dis aligned.

If I connect the AC power adapter to notebook dc jack, it was saying
the invalid adapter and will run on battery only.

So I bought a new Docking Station from ebay (DELL D/Port Advanced Port
Replicator PR01X) with 90Watt PA10 adapter (which is correct one,
DELL suggests on their website),

But unfortunately when I connect this to notebook, after initial boot
screen and immediately after showing the windows splash screen I get
the below error message

"Your system is docked but the AC Power Adapter type cannot be
determined.
Either undock or insert an appropriate adapter.
Strike the F1 key to shutdown"

I have done following things:

1) I have upgraded the BIOS from A14 to A17 which is downloaded from
DELL site

Same error
