Call Compaq tech support, you can't fix it yourself.

It's almost certainly a consequence of:
a) Your disk drives needing some intense housekeeping. The drives heads are possibly working overtime.
b) Ventilation holes are blocked with dust ...
c) Could be a broken fan (but address a & b first)

first thing to do is check ventilation holes - dust etc
that is assuming that the fan is working
use a simple vacuum cleaner or buy a can of compressed air or both
This is assuming that the fan ( fans) are working

i wouldnt go far in fixin a laptop if i were you.. try to consult first a technician before doing so.. or you may buy those platforms for laptop computers that has a cooling system. this may help keeping your laptops temperature down..
