I have a Freeview USB dongle. Just make sure you are in a strong signal area for digital terrestrial TV. I get good results 16 km away from a 2,000 watt transmitter, but only because I have an outside aerial (atop a 14 storey tower block). With analogue TV as the signal weakens the picture gradually gets snowier until no longer watchable. With digital there is a sudden point at which the signal is too weak to be usable. This is called the edge of the cliff effect. Even with a good outdoor aerial you may not get all Freeview channels because until the analogue is switched off, some freeview channel groups are being transmitted out- of -band and need a wideband aerial to receive them. Also digital is not on full power yet until analogue is switched off. Here is a link to help you.

Hope this helps.
