I bought some RAM a while back and i installed in np. but when i was taking the old one out (cuz i was going to use it on something else) the inside of the lid touched a drop of water and when i put the lid over the RAM i saw the drop of water too late, and it got right one of the black chips. so, is it dangerous to use now? since then its just been sitting around my house. in its little box. i did dry it the second i saw the water.

It should be fine.
If you have dried it and made sure it is completely dry, you can test it in a computer.
If the computer boots up fine then your RAM is ok. You might also want to run a memory test - there are plenty of free programs that will do this - this will test each part of your RAM to make sure it works ok. Most RAM has a few errors when you run these test but if you have loads then it may have been damaged.

The RAM testing programs (you only need one):

It's fine, as long as it is completely dry. You might consider letting sit for a day or two, just to make sure all of the water has evaporated away. Also, If you touched the contacts with your fingers you might consider swabbing them with a small amount of alchohol.

Once my mom's phone get wet, so to "rapidly dry it" he put it in the oven and set the oven to warm. Don't do this, there are too many risks with it. Don't "rapidly dry it" any other way, including blowing on it, because your mouth is moist and that moisture will be carried away and onto your RAM.

If your RAM doesn't work when you put it in, make sure it is right for your computer, and if the problem still persists, consider emailing the manufacturer and tell them your RAM isn't working (just that). They will usually (in my experience) tell you to mail it in so they can either repair it for you or replace it for you for free, sometimes even if it isn't under warranty.

I've gotten replacements before for things, even if I did leave it on and plugged in during a storm, or vaccuumed sawdust with it, etc.

No, as long as you let it dry completely. Do not use a hairdryer or put it outside. Water will only damage it if it caused a charge to be released or if it is wet when power is running through it. I know someone who dropped his laptop in the pool for a second and let it dry for 3 days and it worked perfectly!

You could probably put a whole computer in water (if it wasn't connected to electricity), and if you let it dry off long enough it would be fine. I think your Ram is fine.

No, one drop of water didn't hurt anything since it was not inserted int he slot and thus had no electrical current going through it.

Make sure it is dry (let it sit outa day or two) before installing it into anothe rmachine. it should be fine.

It's good, as said above, just don't do anything that would damage it (like a microwave, but that's obvious..fun to watch though, acording to uncle....) and let it dry after you wipe it with a dry cloth carefully avoiding the tines.

It should be ok, so long as it's dry and you didn't damage the contacts or cause anything to make a short circuit on the memory stick.

It should be safe to use after 3 days to air dry.

You can actually soak all your computer parters in water to clean them... make sure it is DISTILLED water though.

I had a friend in college who had his roomate spill mac and cheese all over his laptop. He took it apart piece by piece and soaked it distilled water, let it dry, put it back together, and it worked just fine.
