Open the covers (usually one screw each) on the bottom of the laptop. One is the memory, the other is the mini-pci.

If there is a mini-pci card with wires (like antenna wires) attached, you have wireless already. If the wires are there, but no card, you should buy a mini-pci wireless card. These are a great way to go because they are the cheapest way to add wireless, and then they are built in and always available.

Otherwise you'll need to buy an external pcmcia wireless card.

Most new notebooks do. If you have it built in or not is the question. Check your network connections. Start settings control panel and network connections. If wireless is in there you have it already. If not then there are usb and pcmcia cards that will allow your notebook to have WIFI.

Check and see if your notebook has a pc card slot. If so, you can buy a wifi adapter and connect oto wifi connections. It also depends on which Operating System you are using. If it's Windows 2000 and up, you can.
