I have a thinkpad x60 notebook and it has windows vista Business installed already but the problem is I can't install my program because of compatability issue with windows vista. So, I shrink my hard drive with separate 5Gigabytes of capacity wich is enough for windows XP to be installed. When I boot my notebook with Xp installation disc to install Xp, it does boot but later on, it pop-ups the blue screen like it was crashed. It says "that it has a virus and it can't find the hard drive".blablablablablabla.How could that be my notebook is really new and how come that it can't find the hard drive if I can boot to Vista. I tried it many times but still the same. Its not the disc wich has a problem because I tried it to my desktop and it really works. So, Can you help on how to install windows xp Pro so that I can run my program and it is really important to my job.

By the way I use the external DVD-ROm drive in this operation.

thanks,

Hope you can help me

Would someone please help me understand Intel's naming scheme for it's notebook CPU's.

e.g. How does a Core 2 Duo T2050 differ from a T7400? How will I tell which is a more batter efficient processor vs a faster one?

I know that for the AMD Turion 64 X2, they use model names such as TL-50 - where the first letter denotes single or dual core, the second letter is for comparing power efficiency while the number is pretty much for comparing processor power. So for example, assuming everything else equal -- an MT-34 would be more battery efficient than an ML-36, but the latter would be a 'faster' CPU. I am wondering if Intel has the same naming scheme?

PS. I am only concerned about "model names" with in specific processor families - NOT the differences between Core 2, Core Duo, Core Solo, Celeron etc..

Thank you.

I have never owned a lap top nor have I done any programming on one. Does anyone use a MacBook for windows programming? If you do please share your experience with it. I know...." WHY BUY A MAC IF U WANT WINDOWS?!?!" Because I like the computer itself not the OS. I happen to think they look very sleek and the MacBook is small and compact which is perfect for college.

My laptop takes about 10-20 minutes to fully load to the Desktop. I already did a disk cleanup with CCleaner, defragged, ran a full system scan with Norton AV, ran Spybot, Windows Defender and no viruses were detected. I also deleted stuff from my startup tab, but should I delete these:
ccApp ...CommonFiles/Symantec Shared and osCheck..ProgrammeFiles/Norton Internet Security? I usually run the updates manually. I am running on Windows XP, 80GB HDD and 512MB DDR2. Why is my startup still slow?

I have a laptop that's about two and a half years old. It is out of warranty, but still works fine and is in pretty good physical condition. I was planning on giving it to a friend who needed one but she might be buying her own now and won't need it. Are there places that buy old laptops? If not how do I properly dispose of it?

Does it allow me to record my TV or (even better) from my cable box to my laptop? What is a tv card - are they on my computer already? How do I connect these things, S-video computer to cable box?

Any suggestions to help me record to my laptop? Do I need to just buy certain cables or is more needed? I have nero 7 ultra edition which should allow this.
