I have a laptop that's about two and a half years old. It is out of warranty, but still works fine and is in pretty good physical condition. I was planning on giving it to a friend who needed one but she might be buying her own now and won't need it. Are there places that buy old laptops? If not how do I properly dispose of it?

Use ebay and make a bit of cash. if not ask a recycling worker and ive heard of some supermarkets give extra points when you recycle electrical items.

First, you must wipe the hardware clean so that people cannot get into your personal data and clean the internet cache. Now you can either recycle the laptop, give it to charity (Goodwill or Salvation Army), or sell it (preferably eBay). Good luck! :-)
