Laptops are not only for business mans. You can use laptop for games, internet and other day to day working stuff. Laptop will be a better option for home purpose, as it will be a bit more comfortable to work in bed, or in a relaxed mood. It will consume a less amount of space than the PC and also you can take it wherever you want.

You must spend your money for the best brand.

As I know HP and Dell are the best in laptops for a long time and they are very reliable too. I trusted HP and I bought a HP laptop 2 years before, and still like the day I bought it. Didn't even have to service it at least once up to now.

I recommend you to buy a HP (with experience) or Dell laptop.

On www.hp.com you can even customize your laptop. And also you can check the price

A desktop would be less pricey, but a laptop would be more portable. Some peopl I work with also use their laptop as a DVD player as it has a bigger screen.

Laptops typically have smaller hard drives, slower processors than desktop pc's.

I think you should consider what you are going to use this for and then look for a laptop or desktop that would fit your needs.

Dell is always running specials and most of the people I know have them. Their website will also give you an indication of what kind of pc you would need based on if you are a gamer, just websurfer, need it for business, etc.

A laptop is more versatile. New ones have built in wireless so you can use it anywhere there is a signal. A lot of restaurants, libraries, public have free wireless access. Even the new McDonalds down the road here has free wireless access. A laptop takes up alot less space than a desktop computer too. You can also hook up everything to a laptop than you can hook up to a desktop. I carry a laptop in my semi. I also use it at home. I,d be lost without it. When i,m on the road there are a lot of rest areas that have free wireless service. All truckstops offer wireless service. A laptop is just plain more convenient for me.
Also you can get a good one online thru most manufacture,s websites or if you are careful, on an online auction site. I got my current one, a Gateway from ebay for less than 200$ if you can believe that. Only thing with a laptop is they have a limited battery, so you have to keep it charged. On the road I can charge mine thru a cigarette lighter plug and still use it at the same time. I hope this has helped, even if just a little.

For HOME use, desktop PC is best for you and your wallet. Laptops have great portability but VERY POOR ergonomics. When used for extended periods, laptops eventually cause wrist pain (Carpal Tunnel syndrome) and neck pain (from looking downwards).

To correct laptop ergonomics, many offices provide keyboards on tray and a separate monitor or a laptop cradle (to raise screen height to eye level. This set up is for field guys when they are required to work at the office.

And of course, the FASTEST processors, video cards and hard drives are on the desktop PCs.

I'll tell you what my computer professor told me -- don't get a laptop unless you need the portability. The beauty of a laptop is that you can take it anywhere. But if you don't need to take your computer anywhere, you'll save a lot of money by purchasing a desktop instead; laptops are pricey for the very reason that they are portable.
