you can get a cheap one on www.newegg.com for $10-25, what socket is your cpu, and intel or amd?

look in your local phone book under used computers and parts and you should be able to find a good used fan for about $3 to $5 and you shouldn't be messin on the inside of the unit just to see whats happening.Replace your fan and leave it together, don't open it up anymore.

yeah and i hate fiddling with the computer too!! if you want to get a new cpu fan, your gonna have to buy it, or do you have an extra fan? just change it. i wish i was there to help you...
