My laptop takes about 10-20 minutes to fully load to the Desktop. I already did a disk cleanup with CCleaner, defragged, ran a full system scan with Norton AV, ran Spybot, Windows Defender and no viruses were detected. I also deleted stuff from my startup tab, but should I delete these:
ccApp ...CommonFiles/Symantec Shared and osCheck..ProgrammeFiles/Norton Internet Security? I usually run the updates manually. I am running on Windows XP, 80GB HDD and 512MB DDR2. Why is my startup still slow?

I suggest getting an extra 512 MB of RAM. Also your hard drive could be slow (4200 rpms). You should also disable things you dont need. Click start>control panel>administrative tools>services. Disable things you don't need but be careful. I would create a System resote point before doing that.

Cut down on the processes and services running in the background. They will take time to load up when your computer is starting. You can stop Norton and other program services that search for updates when your computer starting up With XP the svhost.exe services host can cause extremely high cpu usage and slow startups.. The page below shows you how to do it step by step.
Hope this helps!

Click start button
click on run & type in msconfig
on the msconfig window select the start up tab
and deselect all the programs then click apply then ok
and restart the computer.
This will make unnecessary programs not to run at the start up.

From your description, I would first try removing Norton and see if you gain the speed back. Its a speed killer, especially at startup
