Sony is excellent for entertainment and media purposes.

Acer is great for PC gaming.

Dell is great for work related tasks.

For example, Dell comes with Microsoft Office installed and ready to go. Sony has Microsoft Office installed and you only get a 60 day trial. Then you have to buy. Take this into consideration. I have a sony but was disappointed that i had to buy Office when Dell's come with it.

Dell has TERRIBLE customer support.

Sony has EXCELLENT customer support based on my experience. MY laptop is 3 years old I've needed a new hard drive and a new CD-ROM drive. I shipped it out both times and received it back in less than 2 weeks.

Hope this helps.

We had an Acer and one day it just died. It was less that 1 1/2 years old and it just died and we were unable to resuscitate it. There was no sound explanation as to why it died.

I would get a Sony as my first choice and a Dell as my second choice.

sony vaios are VERY expensive dells are less then acers are even less. never owned a vaio, and never known anybody to buy them. ive owned pletny of dells and the all are tough as nails. and ive had friends use acers and ive seen mixed results. keep in mind that if you buy bottom of the line cheapest of the cheapest from any brand you can expect problems.

You should definitely get an Acer. I would also recommend a Toshiba laptop.

well here is what you need to do before buying any computer,,, do some serious research into after sales service,, find out who as got the best service and who as got the worst,,, because it is the after sales service that counts the most

next compare the systems spec against each other, next comes price... what you can afford to pay
