If I want to buy a Beginner's graphics card which is Direct x 10
capable and maybe 50 to 75 dollars, is the Nvidia 8400 a Video card to look at?

Cause we're going to buy a motherboard that is PCI and a video card also....and we're on a tight budget right now

My Compaq (Presario SR1810NX with XP Home Ed, 1.5GB DDR 3200 RAM, 100GB HD) computer came with an all-in-one mobo (i.e., 256MB graphics, 32-bit audio chips; on-board modem and ethernet connection) when I bought the whole system April of last year. And while I was enjoying HP's year-long manufacturer's warranty then, I already tried to inquire which nVidia video card(s) works fine with my PC, but I never did learn anything new without buying from their online store? I understand also that today's newer graphics cards may just prove incompatible to last year's specs but I still wish to know from others who happened to own the same PC I use. Your feedback is most appreciated. Thanks!

I just bought a new ATI Radeon X1650 Pro, I've installed the hardware and removed the old drivers, but when I attempt to install the new ones with the cd that was included with the card, it stops the installation and asks to setup my display adapter with a standard VGA driver. I'm running an Intel Pentium 4 and an Intel motherboard.

I want to purchase a 8800 gtx card, but i will not pay that out there...... price for it, knowing that in a few months the value will take a crash dive and the next lastest greatest thing is famous.
so how long do you think the card will sell for around $400 on ebay etc. before no one bids more than $100-200 tops like everything eles? because ill wait if i can save $ hundereds thats for sure.

I have a lousy graphics card: 4X AGP 3D Graphics Hardware Acceleration (nVIDIA® GeForce4™ MX 440)
64MB Video Memory (128-bit DDR)
MPEG2 Realtime Encoder/Decoder board
with TV Tuner.

I am running Windows XP with 512MB of memory.
My computer is a Sony PCV-RZ14G

Now my question is, I have 1 free PCI slot should I:
1.) Use this slot for a new graphics card and leave the old there, and if so what is your suggestion for the new card?
or
2.) Replace the old card with your suggested new card with the same capabilities?
or
3.) Just buy a new compy?

When I plugged in my USB game controller into my windows Vista, it says that the device is unknown, so I do not know how to install it.... :(
Is there any way to manually install or tell vista what the device is?

if you are reading a page on the computer you can scroll down by rolling the scroller on the top of the mouse. I use to be able to do this & now I cant, I have to use the scroll bar on the right side if the screen. Anyone know how I can fix this?

I was at bestbuy yesterday and i seen the geforce 8500 GT 512mb video card for only $86.00, it read to be an awsome card for that cheap price so i bought because i need a new card, and this one even plays direct x10... but when i opened it it looks like a piece of cheap crap! even my girl friend sais thats it looks like junk! ha! anyway before i use it i want to research this a little because if it really is crap i can still bring it back and buy something eles which of course will cost 4 times the price.... OUCH...

I'm trying to install a TV tuner on my PC and it's not working. Everything is installed correctly regarding hardware and software but when I check the device drivers on my PC I get an error message that says: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

im buying a dell inspirion 531, and the graphics options are Integrated nVidia GeForce 6150 LE graphics AND 256mb nVidia GeForce 8600GT graphics card. I would have picked the deticated graphics but that costs £99.88 extra.

Should i pick the dedicated graphics or pick the integrated graphics and pick up a decent graphics card on ebay for £35 ?

I'm getting it merely to play NFS Pro Street when it comes out.
No "get an upgrade" answers please.I have a large offer from someone and I can choocse any graphics card from his shop for free...
So, what would you recommend me?

I have a 500 GB Western Digital external hard drive connected by USB to my port replicator to which my laptop is docked. Sometimes I am able to turn off/remove this HD through the "Safely Remove Hardware," but more often than not, it tells me it is unable to stop the drive and to try again later. I would try again later and get the same message, so usually I will just leave it connected to the port replicator. It will remain on, but my laptop will be off.

SO, the question is, does the HD ever need to be turned off? If not, I'd just rather not bother anymore. I just don't want it to crash/have a melt down if I do not remove it or turn it off every day.
