Yes.

The graphic card's onboard memory runs independently & has nothing to do with the RAM on your mainboard.

Upper post is RIGHT. Do not confuse system RAM on the motherboard with graphics memory on the graphics card. They are entirely different. Even a graphics card w/ ddr3 works great on my motherboard with ddr-400 RAM.

DDR2 and DDR have different number of pins.. in my view the compatibility is very poor.
