i wouldnt .. it will at the least slow it down and at the worst cause errors ...

YES you can and it should not cause any errors if the added stick is in good condition. HOWEVER, BIOS will automatically synchronize the speed of the RAM modules to that of the slowest, PC-2100 in this case. Degradation of speed may not be so noticeable in office applications, internet or downloading. It is more noticeable in benchmarks and games.
If your motherboard is capable of running memory in dual channel mode, better get additional RAM with identical specs (speed and latency) as the one currently installed. That would really do wonders to your PC.
