Here is the problem with my laptop..

A couple weeks ago I accidently spilled milk on it and turned it off before the milk could destroy anything..After about a week of it drying it was able to turn on..But there was one problem..the whole keyboard was screwed up and about a few keys actually worked..I have taken some of the real sticky keys off to clean it up a little with water so it isnt as sticky and possibly see if i couuld get it to work once more..So then i just bought a usb keyboard and it seems to be working great for me...after some time...it seems as the milk has corroded the power start up key...so I had to take off the power start up button(the button you press to have it turn on...this is kind of funny how i start it up now...I have to get a thumb tack to start it up..like the pin part has to touch a certain part inside of the start button key without the key being there...

My computer is a Compaq. The sound does not work, and the moving images (such as on U-Tube) freeze and don't move. I have been told I need a new sound card, but a tech I know put one in, and the USB ports stopped working, so I had him remove it.

Also, I'm sure I have many things loaded and running that are unnecessary, but I'm not sure how to eliminate them without eliminating essential things!

I have DSL, so it's pretty fast, but I want sound, and I want moving images.

My keyboard, mouse & monitor are just fine. The USB ports work well now, so I have a printer and can upload my photographs.

I wonder if I should just buy a new CPU and start over. If so, what kind do people recommend?
I've had HP in the past. Also, about how much would one cost if that's all I purchase? I've only purchased entire systems in the past.

Thanks for any ideas.

I clicked the $30 upgrade for Vista home premium.

The laptop comes with a Athlon 64bit X2

But how do I know if the OS is 64 bit?
do they automatically install 64 bit vista on athlon 64 notebooks?

Well I have a Hp Pavillion Dv2000

It always overheats a lot! even if I put it on a flat surface were it can vent, what are some suggestions to prevent overheating cause it pisses me off when im playing runescape ( ssxcloud) and it turns black and I have to restart also any ideas on how to clean a laptop with household items (keyboard screen mainly)

looking for a good computer scanner, what should I be looking for? I want to scan alot of pictures. Also, is a bulb or a LED scanner better? As oyu can tell I know nothing about this at all, I want something that will be good and around 100 to 250 dollars...can you please help me

I ordered my Inspiron 1420 YESTERDAY.
I called today and it said that my notebook was in the BOXING stage.
It explained BOXING is when a completed system is placed into a box with all the corresponding manuals, mouse, keyboard, etc.

Is that at ALL possible? I ordered yesterday and it's already built?

Which brings me to - the estimated shipping date - it's January 8th - about a month from now.
WHAT IS GOING ON.

i hv a severe computer problem. when i check up my device manager,i opened up showed hidden device i realised that my Keyboard_Filter_01, it has a question mark on it..then when i click on it,it says it does not have a driver on it,,so where can i download the driver, and also when i plug out my laptop charger,im unable to enable my local area connection(not wireless lan) i can only enable unless i plug in my lan cable,RJ45 , i have a feeling that the charger is link to my Lan,how can i change it.thx

My computer recently broke and its not easy going without a computer. So should I get the computer now, or will the computer prices be lower after christmas? So should I wait? I'm thinking of getting a computer with at least an AMD athlon x2 6000+. Or will they release even better computers in '08?

my laptop has been making wierd noises a while now so i just ignored it.The noises have been getting worse and faster now,i thought it was just the fan or whatever's under there but then i heard some electricity buzzes etc,but then again it could be something just hitting something else.So anyone have any idea what could be happening?

i have a ibm thinkpad, and it is giving me trouble rebooting up to windows XP....it was working the otherday, now it keeps coming up to the screen where it allows me to choose safe mode or normal, but any choice i choose it just keeps restarting and going back to that screen, i can't seem to get past that point...any advice?

Recently my homemade computer stopped working when I tried to install a cd drive from my old computer into it. I must have knocked off the cpu fan. Once I reattached it the computer worked fine. I'm not sure if that is related to this. About a week later, it randomly froze and I shut it off. When I came back later, I tried to turn it on and the monitor stayed blank. The case lights turn on, cd drive works, fans spin, etc. There is not the usual diagnostic beep during start up. I tried booting with different psu, without hd, dvd, or usb devices plugged in. I also tried booting with the system disk and the same thing happened. I dont have another gfx card to test with so that is the last thing I want to test besides the motherboard. Anyone have any suggestions?

Intel Core2Duo E6300 (1.86 Ghz)
2gb ocz nvidia ram
ATI x1650 pro pci-e vid card

my computer will not let me install it. I have the installation CD, but when I go to

For a couple of days it's not working properly. I have to click on the left button 3-4 times in order to open a link, it seems as if it's broken or something (and I know it's not). I've tried changing settings, but it's still the same, I have to press the left button hard in order for it to work. Can someone tell me what could be the problem and how to fix it? Is it time to get a new mouse?

i got a housing to convert it to external, easy enough.
it's got 3 partitions on it. how do i format back to just one partition? (there is no data on it that i need to save-that was easy enough too.) just want one big blank drive.
