1. wouldn't turn on 1 day so opened up & checked all connections. Still didn't work.
2. tested with a different power supply....it blew up!(But possibly due to wrong volt setting or faulty P.S)
3. put old P.S back in and tried different Motherboard (& CPU) borrowed from a mate but still didn't turn on.....
NOW THIS IS THE WIERD BIT...
4. Put my Motherboard & processor back in so ALL original parts.... TURNED ON!!
5. 3 days later same thing happened! Wouldn't turn on again!
6. Swapped Motherboard again and it turned onto standby (orange light) so swapped back to my board and it turned on again!!! Later on it crashed so I tried to restart but nope - wouldn't turn on again.
7. Tried swapping hard drive - didn't work.
8. Tried using a different case (so different switch) - didn't work
9. Tried swapping Motherboard again but mate's board started to smell like burning so quickly took out!!
10. Now all original parts back in but even though it sprung back to life twice b4 it seems dead as a dodo now :(

I really don't understand as it's a Packard Bell that was over £300 for the tower alone last yr from PC World (refurbished) and THREE FLIPPING WEEKS past its year's guarantee. I really can't afford to pay to get some1 2 look at it coz I've got no money.

so i have a laptop, and i keep losing internet connection at random times, and my amazing laptop says the prob is caused by adobe reader, so can i just delete this, or will my computer just crash if i do?

today i got on my computer for like 10 min then it froze. (this usually happend for the past 6 months so i press the power button on my comp to turn it off then back on again, since alt+ctrl+del+del usually doesnt work.) but today i did all that, exept my comp turned on for a split second then off, i pressed again there was nothing. so i checked everything, cleared my cmos.. but when i took out my video cards the power worked. when i put them in the comp, it lits up split sec then off. i tried putting my cards 1 at a time, did the same thing. dint try switching them places because theyre connected with water cooling.

this is my 2 prob with my comp, first 1 was my comp didnt turn on at all cuz burned power supply (i had 850w, now i bought thermaltake 1kilowat)

my video & mobo are:
2 bfg 7800 gtx 256
asus a8n32 sli deluxe

I've had a Radeon X1650 pro 512MB PCI-E video card since about January, and it's worked fine. But games like Battlefield 2, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and Crysis are giving me a pretty low fps of somewhere around 25 fps on their lowest settings during combat. I currently have 1 GB of DDR RAM and I've been thinking of upgrading for a while. Would it help my fps much or at all?

My parents are going to give me a computer for graduation, and I need to let them know whether I want a laptop versus a desktop. The only reason I really like desktops it is way easier for me to type on it and its what I'm used to, but the laptop would be easier for me to take around.

Your opinions please?

I have a AsRock 4 core dual sata 2 motherboard. My graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 8600GT PCI-E 512mb. When I first started my computer it started normal, but when it got to the login screen it froze and got reall pixely and crapy. Then nothing happened for awhile then it restarted and it goes in circles like that. I started it in Safe Mode and updated the driver but that did not help.

If 1GB = 1024 of RAM then 4GB should = 4096 of RAM. Does that mean that some of the RAM I added is not working? (2 2GB disk).

I just need a reliable desktop computer to get through 3 more years of college and then I will get a very nice one (probably Apple) or build my own then b/c I'll have more time to put it together & money. Just today i lost my CD-ROM link on my computer it says on device manager that its code 41 this has happened before however i whipped my computer and it was back again but its happened again.

i have a nVidia geForce 4 ti4200 128MB graphics card, and i am considering buying a 22" widescreen monitor (1680 x 1050 ).

I am just wondering if this is possible? will my graphics card support this resolution? I only use my computer for programming, internet browsing, instant messaging, so graphics demands are not high at all.

I have a dell inspiron 6000 laptop and recently my wireless connection doesnt work anymore. My friend looked at my laptop and said my Wifi isn't on thats why. But he tried to turn it on and it doesn't tured on. He did the whole Fn and F2 thing but that did not work. He then tried to download drivers online using my laptop with WIRED connection and thought he found the solution.

However, it still does not work. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? My router is perfect because my laptop does not even detect any wireless connections at all. Usulaly there is around 8 around my home so the router is definitely nnot the problem. My friend even connected to my wireless router that day using his ITouch.

What can i do?

I need something that can store a lot, so what should I look for? Does it have to do with the hardrive or RAM? See, the one I am interested in says:
1GB DDR2 SDRAM
160GB Hard Drive
Is that good? What is a good range in RAM and Hard Drive to have if you plan on storing a lot. Also, what do I need to buy so that I can transfer my files from this computer onto my new laptop?

I have a max resolution of 1680x1050, How do i set it to 1440x900 when it doesn't show up in Display Properties, Settings Tab? So is there a whey i can do that? I have a LG L222WT and ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 connected with DVI Cable. Running Windows XP Pro SP2.

Lets say computer 1 has a printer/scanner attached and computer 2 doesn't .... I configured it so that I could print from computer 2, is there a way to scan from computer 1 and send it to computer 2 directly without the messenger or mail. Thank you.

ok. right i have a dell inspiron 6400. okay it is all high tech and i love it, and when i shut download the is usually icons to choose is i what to shut down, hibernate etc. but one day my computer switched of and i could not get it to load so i went to to a boot menu when i swithed of and on and then pressed f12. now it is working and now it iis gone oldish type and i have to scroll to choose what i want to do. okay so the question is what happened and how can i put it back to normal.
