ok. right i have a dell inspiron 6400. okay it is all high tech and i love it, and when i shut download the is usually icons to choose is i what to shut down, hibernate etc. but one day my computer switched of and i could not get it to load so i went to to a boot menu when i swithed of and on and then pressed f12. now it is working and now it iis gone oldish type and i have to scroll to choose what i want to do. okay so the question is what happened and how can i put it back to normal.

Whew. That's terribly written. I've read it three times and I think what has happened is that the resolution setting on your screeen has gone to VGA.

Open the Control panel
Double Click the Display Icon.
Click the SEttings Tab.
Set the resolution higher.
Click OK

On most machines pressing F12 re-installs the system or boots from another drive. If you took the time to write down clearly what happened, and any error messages you got, and maybe the messages you read from the F12 we might be able to help.

Dont Worry My mother had this problem with a lot of messing about i finaly found did it dnt ask me how but all i can think is that you need to alter the boot menu on the BIOS i cant remember short cut put it on the very first screen

Huh?? That doesn't make any sense...just reformat the HDD...sounds like you really screwed something up...
