hi,

i have a nVidia geForce 4 ti4200 128MB graphics card, and i am considering buying a 22" widescreen monitor (1680 x 1050 ).

I am just wondering if this is possible? will my graphics card support this resolution? I only use my computer for programming, internet browsing, instant messaging, so graphics demands are not high at all.

cheers

it should be able to drive a display of that size ok.

it is the resolution of the output not the physical size of the display your trying to run

try it anyway on your computer and if you cant run it on your computer you'll be able to scale down the resolution abit and then it'll be able to run on your computer [although the quality wont be clear]

that would enable you to continue to use your computer until you could buy a cheap newer graphics card. but when you do so, i'd recommend checking if your motherboad take agp or pci-e graphics cards. but if in doubt, all computers generally can take a pci graphics card

Before you go spending money on a new graphics card, visit the following url and download the latest drivers for your graphics card.

In the first drop down box (Product Type) you'll need to select Legacy. In the Product Series drop down box, choose GeForce 4 Ti Series, and then choose which Operating System you're using, and your language. (As you've asked this question on Yahoo! Answers UK & Ireland, it would suggest English (UK), but you never know.)

When you install the programme (note, that's the English UK spelling. lol) you should get an icon appear at the bottom right of your screen (NVIDIA Settings). If you click once on this you should then be able to choose screen resolution. This will give you the available resolutions that your graphics card can display.

that card might be a little underpowered for a monitor that big.....i wouldn't go bigger than a 19 or 20 inch
