My external hard drive was working fine till a few days and suddenly stopped showing on the USB drive of my desktop. I hear some scratch noise (as through something is rotating but getting hit at a certain point as it moves).

When I disconnect & reconnect to the USB, the desktop recognises a mass storage device but nothing happens after that. I am not seeing this device in "my computer" of Windows XP professional. All the other pen drives and other devices are being recognised by the USB. So I feel there is nothing wrong with the USB connection.

Any help? How can I recover my files before I ask anyone to work on it? Thanks

i check the event viewer after a system crash and it comes up with bugcheck 0x1000008e. it shuts down and restarts, no blue screen of death. it randomly happens and sometimes it will crash after it rebooted from a crash. It started about 5 months ago, after having it for 2 months and it is brand new.

any ideas on what the problem could be and any solutions? im not that keen on re-installing windows xp.

When I try to format my USB flash drive, the only option that appears is "Format to FAT32"...there isn't even an option to format to NTSC! I find this strange, but what I really need is to format to FAT. Is there a workaround to this, a program or something to format to FAT?

I'd appreciate your help! ;)

I am looking into buying some memory for my computer

After looking up the memory specs for my motherboard, it says my motherboard has "2 x 240-pin DIMM sockets support non-ECC 400/533 MHZ DDR2 memory modules"

Can someone explain this to me. At first I thought I only needed to look for memory with 240 pin discription but now Im not so sure.

The nominal clock of 2.6GHz can be reliably oc'd to 3.3Ghz on a stock cooler! The question is-what's the limit? Would better cooling, like some fancy copper rig or water block, allow even higher stable speeds? I remember some guys oc'ing a cpu to some insane speed by cooling it with liquid nitrogen years ago. Is heat dissipation the only limiting factor to clock speed?

On the p35 motherboards, there are 4 slots: 1,2,3, and 4. I know on my old motherboard, when I wanted to do dual channel I had to set my ram either 1,3, or 2,4. Is it still the same now? So, with 4 ram sticks, would I do 1,3 and 2,4? Thanks.
