If you mean "REPLACE Vista with XP":

The VISTA Recovery disks may be ON the hard drive, so Read The Friendly Manual (RTFM) FIRST to find out how to make your own Recovery disks, if you haven't already formatted your hard drive.

THEN: You must buy the XP Recovery disks from Dell for your specific model to avoid driver problems, do NOT use a store-bought XP disk.

If you mean "Dual boot Vista and XP", Call Dell tech Support FIRST.

S but you need to boot your system with winxp bootable CD then install XP on a drive other than Vista. This may damage Vista Boot image. Now Xp will be functional. Then again Start your system with Vista Bootable CD. It should auto detect Vista installation then select repair u will get a command prompt then type 'fixboot' this should make your system dual boot.

Yes, make sure your divice drivers are all in hand. Some of the hardware devices are new and XP may not have the drivers. Dual boots (XP and Vista) options are common now with many users.

You can create a dual boot if u like where you have both xp and vista...but that to me is pointless....or you can install a clean copy of xp and remove vista....

Formatting will erase everything on your hard drive.......personally I like xp since it doesn't suck up a lot of cpu power like vista......also vista is known to have compatibility issues...
