i have acer aspire5580 laptop.it have 512mbddr ram.now i got another 512mb ddr ram.i can add that 512mb ram memory in memory card 2nd slot.now my laptop shows ,my system have 1 gb ram.
but my firend says,both memory card r in same brand & same frequency only,its works good.otherwise there is no use of ur 2nd 512mb ram.its not boost performence of ur pc.1st check ur both memory card brand & frequency.is it wright?
i dont know more about memory cards.anybody knows,how do identify my both memory card brand & frequency?

Matched pair usually runs in dual channel mode (faster) but not all applications really take advantage of the wider memory bandwidth.

Then, go to:

Use their "Memory Advisor Tool" to identify your PC's RAM by make and model OR by Scanning your PC (Cool!).

Download and install this and run it (its free)

For memory, click motherboard then SPD
It will show brand, CAS latency bus speed. To get memory bandwidth click motherboard then motherboard.
