Hardware - March 2007

My computer freaked out and wouldnt boot up recently. I took it in to be fixed and they were able to save all of my music and files of that sort. They created a Local Disk D to transfer all of my old files into. That drive is now completely empty and unused and I would like to combine it so that I only have the C drive. The formats are the same. How do I combine them, is it something that I myself would want to do, or let someone who knows more do it?

My comp has 2 slots for memory modules. It worked when I only have one of these installed (tried em both, not simultaneously). So this means the new one must then be ok too, but when I put em in together my comp doesn't do a thing when I turn it on. They're both 256MB SDRAM 133 MHZ DIMM. Do I need to adjust something in windows first?

I gave my Aunt my old computer, but she wanted to keep her monitor, which is from the mid 90's, because it is smaller. However she says that the computer constantly freezes up. I took the computer home to try to fix it, and it worked perfectly. Is the cause of this the monitor, or am I overlooking something?

I have a problem with the power and temperature with my comp. I have a comp with:
-Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz,
-Motherboard Asus P4P800,
-2 Gb RAM,
-ATI Radeon 9550 256Mb,
When i check the temperatures, i got a result saying that:
CPU temp: 82-84 degrees C
Motherboard:40-42 degrees C
Harddrive: 35-36 degrees C
Cooling fan speed:2700 rpm

So is it mean i have to buy a new cooling fan to cool down my CPU to solve the problem of sudden turning off?

I am unable to print because something seems to be "stuck" in my printer queue. I open the printer and tell it to delete and it indicates that it is "deleting" but it never goes away and now my printer won't print anything else. I can only assume it's because of this. I have already tried unplugging the printer and re-starting and that did not help. How can I fix this?

I have Sound blaster 5.1 sound card and Altec lancing 5.1 speakers. For video, I have one nvidia geforce 8800GTS and one LG 19" LCD (1280*1024). Is there any software, player or plugin which will increase the playback quality of songs and movies?
I heard that if a movie or song is not encoded in 3D sound, it won't give 3d sound if you have 5.1 sound card and speakers. Is there any video which can play movies or audio in 3D no matter it is encoded or not? Or is there any encoder which can recode the movie or song in 3d (which was not 3D earlier)
Any software which can increase the quality will be helpful. Please tell.
If you know any software which just enhances the quality, but do not gives 3D, still it will do. If you know a software which gives 3D, it will be better.

it is a DV9000. When i open the cover on the back ,i can see the harddrive ,but i think the whole back casing has to come off. Anyone have any advice on doing this , or know any good videos where i can see it being done.? thank you.

Can anyone help?

Just a few days ago I attempted to print a word document and a message came up saying:
"System Error..... The document cannot be printed due to a system error.
Try printing again. If unsuccessful, restart Windows and try printing again."
I have tried printing numerous times, tried restarting the computer, un-installed the software and drivers and re-installed them a number of times and also tried a system restore on my computer but nothing helps.
The scanning part of the printer has no problems and the printer IS recognised by my system etc....
Can anyone help. Thanks
