You can't install Win98 after installing WinXP which is a NT based system, a more improved version. One thing you can do is to get another hard disc drive, install 98 in it and make it slave or master whatever you want and you are now having two systems ready on two drives. All the mess you have to do is to determine the hard drive to boot each time for selecting the OS i.e. 98/XP.

Yes. You can dual boot windows xp and windows 98. However, it can get a little tricky at places. Install Windows 98 into a seperate folder (instead of \windows, install it as \win98 or something along those lines). The only real issue is if the system will detect both and create a boot menu. You may want to research 3rd party boot menu systems.

No. You have to format your WinXP before you can install Win 98. I am not sure what your intention to remove XP and install Win 98 but if you just want to try out both system, you can just download Microsoft Virtual pc or Vmware and setup a virtual Win98 within your WinXP. So whenever you want to use Win98, just switch on you WinXp and on your virtual Win98. Thats it!! 2 OS without formatting your pc.
