Howcome my comp doesn't work when I install an extra memory module?

My comp has 2 slots for memory modules. It worked when I only have one of these installed (tried em both, not simultaneously). So this means the new one must then be ok too, but when I put em in together my comp doesn't do a thing when I turn it on. They're both 256MB SDRAM 133 MHZ DIMM. Do I need to adjust something in windows first?

Have you tried each stick on it's own without the other? Seems likely that one of them is dead.

It could be that the other RAM slot is bad.
