Sometimes, my computer won't boot up. It ALWAYS turns on but sometimes nothing comes on the screen, its just black, even though its on. I ran full tests of PC Pitstop and it says that both my processor and memory are performing very poorly and indeed my computer does perform slow. Also, there is a message that the timings are too tight when the computer does boot up and gives me the option to enter the bios or continue but if I loosen the timings, the computer never boots. The computer has never been overclocked or anything and does not have any viruses or any malicious programs. The computer is only about 1 years old.The computer used to work fine but I think some hardware might be failing, any ideas?

I have a Toshiba laptop... less than a year old and I recently dropped it by accident. Now it does nothing.... no sounds, no picture... just a blank screen. Is it worth it to try to get it fixed or should I just chalk it up as a loss? Any tips for ways I can at least try to see what's wrong with it?

I have 2 regular computer speakers and a subwoofer -- for some reason the subwoofer has stopped working. It's been not working for about a year but keep forgetting to buy a new one
It's weird because i listen to music on my computer pretty much everyday without the subwoofer working but every now and then it will decide to make noise for about a minute and then, nothing!
Any one who can help me with this problem will be my saviour! lol

The fans all start to spin but barely complete 2 rotations before they stop. If I hit the start switch repeatedly it does the same thing. I have moved the power on jumpers and the reset jumpers and even tried a different swith all with the same results. I know this is something simple I just don't have any experience with new motherboards.

I'm very biased toward PC. For the following reasons:

1. Upgrade Possibilities
2. Gaming
3. Variety of Products
4. Software

Ok my computer recently crashed and I lost all of my saved settings and files and everything that was on my computer so I am now trying to get everything up and running. Before my computer crashed I had a cable modem (Toshiba RNDIS Adapter PCX2600) I am trying to install it and I need the Found New Hardware wizard to pop up because in the instructions that I downloaded along with the driver for it I need that wizard to pop up in order for me to install it corectly. The instructions say to go to the device manager and uninstall the adapter then to go to "action" at the top of the screen and scan for hardware changes and then the Found New Hardware Wizard is supposed to pop up this way I can manually put in where the driver for this device is located. Please Help- I also can't figure out what is wrong with my sound. I have no sound coming out of my speakers. I tried to download the driver for it but I keep getting some error message that the file is corrupt. Please Help!!!!! Thanks

I want to build my own computer for the 1st time, Ihave done a lot of changes to my old desktop, I have changed the HDD, cdrom, RAM, everthing but the motherboard and processor.. i feel I dont have enough understanding about the motherboard settings.
If I have to build my computer, is it hard to do the motherboard settings as well as the processor? I know how to attach the bits and pieces of it but I lack understanding on the bios settings and/or any switches on the motherboard itself.... is it hard? can you recommend a website or video explaining this?

I stiII have no success burning DVD-Rs, even though I have successfully burned a DVD-RW (a movie). Burning CD-Rs and CD-RWs, along with the DVD-RW mentioned, has been fine. I keep getting a “media write error” when I burn DVD-Rs (early in the process and up to 98%). I have done all the usual troubleshooting (i.e. different media, lower burn speed, diff. software, uninstall/reinstall, etc…). I have tried copying DVD to DVD (uncopyrighted material) and burning from my hard drive – nothing works.

These are my laptop specs:
- AMD Athlon 1600+ (1.4GHz) processor,
- 256 MB RAM,
- 20GB hard drive with 5GB hard drive space (on C drive) to work with (I am able to copy a DVD to my hard drive with no problems).

Are these specs just not enough to work with to burn a DVD? (these are the minimum requirements listed for my external DVD burner). Does anyone know what the error message means? Is there anything left to try before I give up? Thanks :)
