They are fairly cheap, but they get away with that by using shoddy, low quality parts. So you get what you pay for basically.
I've never seen a Dell laptop owner that didn't have problems... Indeed many Dell users I know have had multiple problems over just a couple years.
If you need a cheap computer that will last a year or two, then they can work for you. But if you want a higher quality or something more reliable you'll need to fork over a bit more money for something else.

I hear they're not bad for the price but apparently their customer support is shite. I've heard it's really hard to get them to help you out if something goes wrong with your computer. Most people seem to think Toshiba make the best laptops.

depends on wat type your buying dell is mostly for gaming entertainment and business. i have a inspiron e1505 and it rocks my specs are
2.0 ghz core 2 duo
1gb ram
120 harddrive
256 mb of video ram ati radeon x1400
i play games like fear, battlefield 2 and other first person shooters on medium setting

They all start with okay specs and I've never known anyone who owns one have any problems.

they suck. I got one and it started to screw up after a month. They also have crap service. Get a Mac!
