i have a standard CD Rom Drive on my laptop and instead of buying a new drive, i was wondering if i could format it into a r/rw drive?

You could replace your slandered cd/rom for one thay can burn a cd.Our you could an external usb dvd rw drive

No! You need to buy a new RW drive. If you decide to buy a new one, choose for a DVD RW.

confident. you purchase a DVD-RW force and replace your DVD-ROM. the way you may want to imagine that that is even remotely plausible to by some ability make the hardware do something it can't bodily do is previous me.

no, cd rom drives don't have lasers to cut into the surface of a writable cd.
