my PC, does it need software, I have a compaq presario, I have it pluuged into the out plug and NO SOUND, Everyone keeps saying I need software. Is this true???

what do I need to do in order to be able to surf the net and watch TV at the same time. It seems that I dont have and option. Is either one thing or the other. Also when when I am watchint tv and go for the internet I can navegate the net and hear the TV but it does not show the tv image. I have PIP in the computer I dont know if this additional info helps. Thanks

Whenever the PCMCIA wireless card is inserted, why does my laptop crash and reboot? I'm tempted to reformat the hard drive. Data backup is not an issue.

When I try to burn CD's, using either of my two burners, one internal the other external, I often [but not always] get the software to read the one I am burning, ask for a blank CD to write to, then reject the blank CD. I thought the problem was the brand of CD's I was using, since several in a row would burn using Sony, but not Imation. Then I bot a new supply of Sony CD's. It accepted the first one and started rejecting all the ones that followed again.

Do I need yet another burner? Or is there a software glitch here? BTW I have several programs for 'burning' CD's, and they all seem to do the same thing at times. HELP>

I just purchased a Dell Dimension E521 AMD 64 X2 3800+ 512MB PC.

It was advertised as having 3.8 Ghz. Now, when I go to "View system information", it shows:

Dell Dimension DIME521
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 4200+
2.20Ghz (this number changes - it was 900-something before)
448MB of RAM
Physical Address Extension

Is there something wrong or am I wrong on something?

I want to take a new PC (assembled) mainly for my programming and gaming! So I wanted a perfect mainboard as well as a graphic card.

Here's the rest of the config:
Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.13
RAM: 1GB DDR2 4200
HDD: 160GB SATA
CD/DVD: Samsung Writemaster
Monitor: LCD 17" LG
and the rest....

Now for the Graphic card:
PC Express 1600 512MB???
or
NVIDIA???
or
ATI???

(I dont know the model, and the memory so please suggest!)

and the mainboard:
Gigabyte
Intel
or Asus?

Which one is better (fr Core 2 Duo)?

I have abit A17 motherboard. for my understanding it will take 4 memory sticks DIMM/dual channel DDR 400,333 and or 266Mhz. I have 4- 266mhz instaled and I want to replace it with 2-2 gb 400mhz. If any one of you have done that please tell me how it is working. I am intaling a 800mhz 3.0 cpu so it is all speed.

Normanlly I buy a new cartridge went mine run out of ink. This time I went to a place where they refill them for about 1/3 of the cost for a new cartridge. When I got home and place it into my printer is does not show that it is full.

I called the store and the lady said that it depends on the printer, sometimes it does not show that it is full. She said that it is full, and when it starts to run low the printing will be uneven. I could not challenge her because this was the first time that I have refilled a cartridge.

Is thise true? Although it is full it does not show on my printer icon.

I am ready to purchase a new computer. The only thing I need it for is to surf the web, pay bills online, play music, and do some school work. I would like it to be kind of fast and have a wireless card. I also do not want to spend much money maybe around three to five hundred dollars. I only buy my computers from dell. the BLUE box on the RIGHT lists north and south bridges. i DONT KNOW what one i want. wtf is the difference. i want a GOOD motherboard. i dont want to have to upgrade it.
