I am ready to purchase a new computer. The only thing I need it for is to surf the web, pay bills online, play music, and do some school work. I would like it to be kind of fast and have a wireless card. I also do not want to spend much money maybe around three to five hundred dollars. I only buy my computers from dell. Can anyone tell me what will be a good computer to purchase?

For web surfing, paying bills etc you wont need the ultimate powerhouse.

Even the lower end Dell computers should suit you just fine. You may have to ask them if you can get a wireless card installed. (Probably cost you a little extra)

Celeron, 512mb ram, intergrated grahpics card, 80+Gig Hard drive would be something you should be looking at.

call dell and tell them what you just said here. i just helped my neighbor order a dell laptop about a month ago, total $524. Granted it was not a machine with all the bells and whistles. but it will serve them good. Suggest that you shop around also, not be so loyal to one brand. You might find a better deal.

believe u me that buying ur comp from dell is one of the worst moves u can make
the best thing u can do if u want a custom built computer is to shop around some of ur local computer stores and ask them to give u a quote for your desired specs (btw dell overcharges real bad)

Well, if you're going for dell, then you can optimize one yourself. A good ammount of RAM would be at least 1GB, but 512 could work too. You might want a good hard drive, 120gb+ . As for video card, 128mb should do.

Get a Dimension C521. You can pick up a wireless adapter for £20.

Go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net They sell professional-grade systems for less than most places charge for consumer-grade crap (including the manufacturer sites).

I have bought 5 systems from them so far and every time the item I buy has exceeded my expectations.
